Sixty-six years ago August 4, in 1945, the U.S. dropped two atomic bombs. The first was in Hiroshima. The second was in the city of Nagasaki.
These two events are the only use of nuclear weapons in war to date.
The role of the bombings in Japan’s surrender and U.S.’s ethical justification for them, as well as their strategic importance, in ending WWII is still questioned.
