Okay, I admit. On Valentine’s Day, I need some flowers. Sorry to disappoint you all who believe that Valentine’s Day is just another commercial holiday that we shouldn’t be buying into, but my desire for roses (I’ll even take a dandelion) stems from an ex-boyfriend who got himself a tattoo “for me” on Valentine’s Day about 15 years ago.
“I have a surprise for you,” he said when he called on the phone earlier that day. Was I about to be showered with some special love and gifts from my sweet, but stoner and super-forgetful boyfriend?
He walked in the door with a big smile, then ripped off a giant bandage on his calf to reveal a half-naked pin up girl with curly brown hair sitting in a martini glass surrounded by aces.
I’m not kidding.
That is my PRESENT?
I would have preferred a butt smack.

i had no idea he was such a sensitive guy. very sweet. just watched Drive, it’s fantastic. not much valentine’ish about it though…Lars and The Real Girl? Now that’s a VALENTINE.
