Girls on HBO? Did you watch the show? I did and I was uncomfortable, a sign of good art!
I was watching what I thought was a comedy, ha, ha, and then I started watching privileged, college educated young adults, whose parents pay their bills and whose endless unpaid internships keep them busy’ish; young adults who talk, talk, talk because they’ve been in therapy forever.
All their in-touchiness is great BUT if they can’t get work, grow up and experience life, so what, right? I grabbed a box of Kleenex halfway through the thirty minute comedy.
So, if you watch, be prepared to fall in love with quirky messed up big kids, who you will then worry about.
I know, I’m being really serious about this little show, but I’m about to send kids off to college…

I found some elements uncomfortably funny, but I only watched the first episode. I loved the dad (bosom buddies guy…) defending her while she squiggled on the ground in a heroin induced collapse. But generally it just reminded me of how many bad choices I made with dopey guys (oh, and bosses) who really didn’t care much about me — oh my god, i think i dated that dude who walked around with no shirt, not him, but an incarnation of him.
